Algonquin Park is world famous for its beautiful forests, and pristine lakes. In this experience you will have opportunities to view and photograph wildlife, waterfalls and the iconic landscape of Algonquin Park.

This experience also features guided learning and discussion on the ecology of the environment from both the naturalist and Indigenous perspectives. Night time experiences include astrophotography and learning about nighttime wildlife. Price includes all meals, 5-star wilderness surroundings, rustic cabin accommodations at the Algonquin Wildlife Research Station (algonquinwrs.ca), and all paddle equipment. Highlights – Algonquin Wildlife Research Station tour – Campfire workshop – Hike to private lookout for soaring vista’s over Algonquin park (excellent opportunity to observe moose, turkey vultures, and signs of wildlife) – Introduction to kayaking/canoeing (participants will learn proper paddle position, stroke techniques, seating position, portaging, and safety awareness) – Camping 101 – learn how to set up a campsite and how and what to pack for an overnight backpacking trip – Night Photography and Astronomy (participants will learn about the night sky and learn photography techniques to capture long exposure images of the night sky and light trails in the dark) – Optional Early morning photography session (using the golden hour light to capture landscapes and wildlife. Discussion will include how to use water and symmetry to create dramatic images of wildlife and landscapes) – Paddle on Lake Sassajewun and Broadwing lake (understanding wildlife behaviour through body language, using the wind and sun direction to one’s advantage, and how we can use calls to attract wildlife) – Waterfall Photography Tour o Walking tour of local waterfalls and rapids, learning about the Indigenous connection to water o Enjoy a packed lunch nearby the rushing sounds of Ragged Falls, one of the most spectacular falls in the Algonquin.
