On this 2-day creative exploration, you’ll put your hand to ancient glass arts that haven’t changed in over 3000 years – fused glass, stained glass and glass blowing. Experience all that glass craft has to offer, with some of the best artisans out there in this 3 studio hop.
Terry Craig and Jennifer Wanless Craig, makers behind Artech Studios will be your guides for your glass blowing adventure. Imagine gathering layers of glowing orange molten glass from the mouth of a furnace hot enough to melt sand and marvel at the way liquid glass moves and transforms.
Enjoy a fused glass class with artist Joyce Pruysers-Emmink of Ivy Cottage Fusion Arts. You’ll learn the art of glass cutting and assembly — and work with the nuances of texture, colour and transparency to design your pieces and prepare them for kiln firing.
Guided by Tom Green, glass craftsman from Glass Eagle Studio you’ll capture the magic of making stained glass. You’ll work with colour and composition and learn the basics – how to cut glass, prepare patterns, copper foiling and soldering techniques as you to complete your luminous stained glass project.
