Haliburton County milkweed is most edible and the parts we prefer are different from the parts required by the Monarch butterfly. We’ll harvest milkweed from along the rail trail and daylilies from Windfall Food Forest.  Back in the kitchen we’ll learn how to make fermented garlic dill milkweed pickles.  Many parts of the day lily are edible and high in protein, beta carotene and Vit. C.  We’ll learn how to harvest and dry daylilly.  We’ll also identify many other edible plants and trees along our walk.
