ToDoOntario - Ogopogo Resort, winter

In winter the Haliburton Highlands become a playground for snow based activities. Cross country skiing, skating, and ice fishing are available directly at the Resort while dog sledding, downhill skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are nearby the resort.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING

Ogopogo has walking access to the Twin Lakes Ski Trails, part of the Haliburton Nordic Trail & Ski Club Association. This is a 10 km system of easy to moderate groomed classic skiing. The resort is also within 20 minutes of many of the other Haliburton Nordic Trails including the Leslie Frost Centre and Glebe Park. Ogopogo has ski equipment in limited quantity for guests.

ICE SKATING

Skate on beautiful Mountain Lake. The resort maintains a large rink on the Lake – great for a family outing or a pickup game of hockey. Try a romantic skate under the stars – they light the rink at night.

ICE FISHING

Mountain Lake offers great ice fishing featuring Haliburton Gold Lake Trout, Pickerel and Whitefish. It is also known to catch Burbot (Ling) in the evenings. Some of the best locations to fish on the entire lake are located just 300 ft off shore from Ogopogo Resort with easy access back and forth to your cottage from a Heated Ice Fishing Huts. The Ice Fishing Hut Rentals include your bait and the propane for the heated hut. The resort also rents our ice fishing huts for day rentals at a rate of $55.00 /person/day.

DOWNHILL SKIING

Nearby Sir Sam’s Ski and Bike offers excellent downhill skiing without lineups. Ogopogo Resort offers “Learn to Ski or Snowboard” package discounts.

DOG SLEDDING
