Ontario Family Fishing Events – Go Ice Fishing with your family!

Ontario Family Fishing Events is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters without the otherwise mandatory fishing version outdoors card.  The Ontario Government has designated four periods throughout the year as license-free:

February 13 – 15, 2021 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Monday)
May 8 – 9, 2021 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday)
June 19 – 20, 2021 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday)
July 3 – 11, 2021 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday).

During all other time periods, Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase a valid fishing license to legally fish in Ontario.

There has never been a better time to go fishing with your family!

Participants fishing without a license must fish under the Conservation fishing license limits which are set out in the current Ontario Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary. With the exception of the licensing requirement, Ontario fishing regulations, fees and limits continue to apply during license-free days. Printed copies of the summary are available at licence issuers and ServiceOntario Centres.

Due to COVID-19, most public events such as derbies will not run in February 2021.  You are encouraged you to fish safely with your family and submit your “family event” to receive a free fishing package.
