Photo Safari on Forest Trails & Lakes

The Haliburton Highlands is one of the most scenic and naturally beautiful places in Ontario. It’s a nature photographer’s paradise. With unspoiled green forests that burst into a blaze of colour in the fall, hundreds of picturesque lakes dotting its hilly landscapes, and crystal clear rivers flowing in-between, photography lovers come here from all over the world. And it’s not just for the scenery: the area’s rich biodiversity hosts an abundance of wildlife; striking regional and migratory birds, fish, aquatic mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and a wide variety of forest dwelling animals all call this area their home. Encounters with wildlife are not only common or frequent; they’re an every-day occurrence!

Avid outdoorsman and amateur naturalist Stephan Lukacic will guide you on local trails, lakes and rivers around the Haliburton Highlands. Bringing 30+ years of experience and invaluable knowledge of the area’s waterways, trails, and local flora and fauna with you on your adventure, (along with a boat when necessary, safety equipment, and snacks!). It’s a great way to explore Haliburton’s diverse natural beauty—and get shots other photographers can only dream of!

From breathtaking northern vistas to endless intricate macro-photography opportunities—and if you’re very lucky or patient, close encounters with Canada’s legendary forest dwelling megafauna. (Yes, deer, moose, wolves, coyotes, and bears roam these woods, but these are wild animals wary of humans who are generally very shy! Running into them in the forest is common, but the chances of photographing them increase as group sizes get smaller and less intrusive.) This unique experience is an incredible opportunity to capture the great Canadian wilderness in all its splendour and beauty.
