Wreck Island Cruise Adventure Tour

ToDoOntario - Island Queen Cruises, Wreck Island Adventure Tour

Enjoy a 1-hour boat ride through the picturesque islands of the South Channel and the Sans Souci area of Georgian Bay to historic Wreck Island!  Wreck Island is believed to be the final resting place of the Waubuno, a 120′ sidewheel steamer, which sank in a November 1879 snow storm.  The island is also in the heart of the Massasauga Provincial Park and one of the last of the “outer islands” before boaters and campers reach the open waters of Georgian Bay!  After the trip down, the crew of the Islander will dock the vessel in a sheltered cove and passengers will disembark and enjoy roughly 90 minutes on shore.  After a quick washroom break, passengers can begin the Wreck Island Trail, a 1.5 km walking trail of moderate difficulty that follows the shoreline of the western tip of the island.  The trail includes some of the most spectacular scenery in the Park and contains phenomenal geological history.  The trail is quite rugged in places with uneven shelf-rock so proper footwear with closed toes is required (running shoes, hiking shoes or hiking boots).  The trail requires good balance and agility and is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.  After the hike, passengers will board the Islander again for the trip back to Parry Sound.  Don’t forget to bring some water and snacks!
