The best thing about spring in Ontario is it is the time seasonal farmers markets open. An outdoor farmers market is the perfect place to shop for local produce, delicious baked goods, handmade crafts and artisanal products.

Furthermore, many of these markets also have live music, food trucks and other activities to enjoy while you shop. No matter if you’re looking for organic fruits and vegetables, locally-made honey, jams and jellies, or fresh-baked breads and pastries, Ontario’s farmers markets have something for everyone.

With so many great options to choose from, you can find something special at every farmers market in the province.

When is Farmer’s Market Season in Ontario?

Farmers Market season in Ontario usually starts the May long weekend, Victoria Day long weekend. This is typically the third weekend in May. Some outdoor markets start in June. Outdoor vendor markets generally run into October and the ‘Harvest’ Season around Thanksgiving.

Some markets take to the indoors during the winter months and remain open year round. Given there is no outdoor growing season in the winter months in Ontario, winter markets do not focus on local produce.

Many larger markets will have live-music and family entertainment that the kids will love.
